Last week the new Mistress album ‘In Disgust We Trust’ fell on my doorstep. I never heard of the band, but since they’re signed to Earache I had an idea which musical direction I had to think of. The back of the promo talks about “grim, punk-infested aggro-grind”. Jippay, new style definitions; that’s something I like. You feel the sarcasm right? Well, let’s stop the nagging about promotional talk and focus on the album, because that’s what you’re here for.
Birmingham, England is considered as the birthplace of Metal and guess where Mistress comes from? Yep, they’re from Birmingham and I don’t know what’s in the water over there, but it’s definitely something that makes those guys play awesome music. | |
I really like the production of this album; it’s filthy, it’s sludgy, it’s nasty, it’s perfect for the, well, grindcrust Mistress plays.
The songs on ‘In Disgust We Trust’ are very diverse. The title track for instance is pretty mid-paced, but there are also a couple of furiously fast tracks.
Not only a must-buy for fans of old-school grindcore like Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, but also for fans of punk, hardcore and crust.
