Strange, strange, strange. Only somewhat more than half a year after their second release “Subterraneal Magnitude” Diabolic already releases their third release “Vengeance Ascending” amongst our sickened souls. It also seems to be that the band broke with Hammerheart Records and signed a deal with Seasons of Mist now. After the release of “Subterraneal Magnitude” it went pretty fast for Diabolic. They played at all bigger American metal festivals, toured North America for six weeks with Cannibal Corpse and did some gigs with Morbid Angel. But lets talk about the music. And that does not differ so much from the music on “Subterraneal Magnitude”. Diabolic combines death metal with black metal with the song structures of Morbid Angel (“Marked for Banishment”) and the intensity of black metal bands as Marduk.

Only the black metal influences seem to have been put more on the background this time. Therefore Diabolic chose to shifts some gears down so now and than for some fine mid - tempo phrases with melodic solo’s like in “Cease to Be” and “All Evils Inside”. But all in all this certainly has become a fine Diabolic release that will find its way to the rotten souls. Only I still do not understand why a band releases two albums in one year. On the other hand I hope that we do not have to wait two years for the next one now.
