Although the album title might suggest that Hate is merely a Cradle Of Filth clone, the truth is, luckily, otherwise. Because, dear reader, “Anaclasis – A Haunting Gospel Of Malice And Hatred” is no melodic black metal but dark rotten and haunting Polish death metal. “Polish”, I hear you think, “Then they probably sound like Vader”. Wrong again! Hate ofcourse is firmly rooted in the death metal tradition and has some similarities with for instance Vader and Morbid Angel but above all Hate has found its own style.
The fundament as stated before is death metal but there are some very cool heavy metal riffs to be found on the album and they also added a slightly industrial touch.
Hate has been already fifteen years in existence and only the past couple of years they’ve expanded their view outside of Poland. A deal with French Listenable Records was the start for this and their first release on Listenable, “Awakening Of The Liar” received good reviews in the press. | |
I’m pretty sure the reviews will be even better this time as Hate delivered on of the death metal highlights of 2005.
“Anaclasis – A Haunting Gospel Of Malice And Hatred” is fast and furious death metal but at times Hate takes a step back in pace to lets the groove kick in. Whether these are rhythmic machine sounds (Thorns anyone?) or just some slower riffs doesn’t really matter, what matters is that they make the sound even more brutal and at the same time more subtle. The clever use of samples, twisted melodies and a very good production really justify the album title I really like this experimental approach and its going to get them a lot of well deserved attention; that I am sure off.
