This self-titled album by Non Human Level is actually more of a solo project of Christofer Malmström (which we all know from Darkane) than an actual band. This album consists of left-over riffs which Malmström collected throughout the years and which where not really suitable for Darkane. Malmström put together a nice band for this album. On vocals we have Per Wildoer (yes people, the Darkane drummer), Ryan Van Poederooyen on drums (Devin Townsend Band drummer) and ex-Meshuggah bassist Gustaf Hielm on bass guitar.

The music is best described as a hybrid of US death metal and Gothenburg metal, the kind of music you hear a lot these days.

But Malmström added various acoustic parts and some real flashy guitar solos which make the music a bit more interesting.
Earlier I talked about left-over riffs from Malmström, but the music doesn’t sound that way. The music is really intense and the soloing is awesome. Some of the solos are based on that neo-classical shit ‘Fucking’ Yngwie Malmsteen puts off, but as long as it fits the music I’m not complaining.

All in all, this is a very decent debut album and a bit different than the things Malmström does with Darkane.
