This one has it all. when I first looked at the artwork I already knew it. Sadiztik Impaler plays black metal the way it should be played according to the true underground fan-base. The songs are very fast, the lyrics are very evil and the production is…very bad, or should I say; the album has an underground production? No I should not, the album sounds way beyond any acceptable level. That wouldn’t be so bad as long as the songs are very good (Emperor’s Wrath Of The Tyrant did not sound that good either). But the songs are very standard, it sounds okay in the slower passages but as soon as they start blasting then they turn out to be very poor musicians. It seems they pay more attention to their evil looks and to writing evil lyrics than to writing good songs (that’s what it should be all about in the first place). | |
The only exception is ‘Rides Of Perversion’ which is the only song that gets me moving and makes my heart beat faster, the rest of the album consists only of nice parts in every song but can never really satisfy me, and I haven’t even mentioned the kindergarten English in which the lyrics are written. Their style lies somewhere between (the early) Emperor and Marduk, but it never reaches that level. Please don’t get me wrong it is not the worst black metal album ever, especially for a band from Singapore. In the early nineties this would have been a very acceptable album, but nowadays there are so many better black metal acts who can both write good songs and look and sound very evil. (David) |
