Evildoer is pissed off, and they are about to tell the world. This Swedish band plays a combination of Thrash, Noise and a little bit of Death Metal . The album opens with ‘By The Flag’, a song built up around a very strong thrash riff, kicking America’s ass big time. This song would not have been misplaced on Pantera’s Great Southern Trend Kill. They continue straight on with ‘Fear Dot Gov’ which is the very best song of the album. The rest of the album goes on the same way every song is build up around one or two thrash riffs all completed by high speed drum work and a screaming voice. This makes all songs a little bit sound-alike to each other; all songs are played very well and at a very high musical level. It would just be nice if they would slow it down a little bit more sometimes, it makes the album somewhat more diverse. | |
The only time they really slow down is at the end of ‘The Deviant’ (track eight) which immediately makes it one of the better songs of the album. The production could be somewhat heavier and cleaner, it’s not a problem during the regular passages but during the blasting parts the guitars seems to drown in a wall of drums. Evildoer is on the right way to the top of Europe’s metal scene but it will not be an easy, or a short way. Let’s be honest when you can write guitar riffs like Evildoer can, it is all possible.
Pantera fans should really check this out, and I think there are a lot of noise and hardcore fans who will also like this.
