This second album from Edenbridge still reminds one of Nightwish although by far not as good. Edenbridge has less variation in their music and has a less big orchestral. There’s a strange Anni/Never Ending Story-soundtrack feeling that takes over, that becomes more predominant with each next track. Especially the ballads don’t have enough power and give a mushy, drooling kind of feeling, something that doesn’t occur with earlier mentioned Nightwish. One song sticks out and is somewhat comparable with the quality of Nightwish (This is the only band comparable to Edenbridge), but this song is a bonus track, so before buying make sure that this bonus track is on there: “Velvet Eyes Of Dawn”. | |
The rest of the songs sound all alike and one could fit twelve of these in a dozen. Although well produced this “Nightwish-clone” makes typical soft gothic-metal music with a opera-like female voice (although not as powerful as that from Tarja), synthesizer melody-lines, no male grunts and easy to listen to. Nothing special really, but if your into this kind of music you’ll probably like it. Still nothing new, songs are all alike, and not enough power gives 6.5 points out of 10.
