This particular release of “Resurrection” is a re-release of what Dungeon consider as their debut album from 1999 due the fact that it doesn’t feature any demo recordings. The song “Let It Go” has been replaced by a track called “Severed Ties” which appears to be rather fitting as Dungeon is calling it quits; the reason for this being the departure of two band members and the need to start anew with a different name.
Lord Tim has promised one more Dungeon album before the band will change its name to Lord, which is currently a solo project. Apparently Lord will continue where Dungeon left off so fans need not worry that this is truly the end; just a name change. | |
Nevertheless, one could see this as an end of an era for Australian metal.
For those not familiar with Dungeon nor “Resurrection” I would like to say that if you are into old school melodic metal you will definitely dig this release and Dungeon in general. The band sees itself as the Australian answer to Helloween, Iron Maiden and Blind Guardian. It’s authentic and sincere with great guitar riffs and solos. All wrapped up in an old school production.
