John5 is the guy who played with the big ones and gets a lot of respect from those guys. Last time I reviewed a John5 album I wrote: “John is a great guitar player but he should choose what kind of music he really wants to make instead of writing one number from every genre.” You can find that review in our archives.

So I was very curious what John did on his new album. First song has got a very catchy metal riff. The riff will never get out of my head again I guess. This album is also varied in styles. i.e. the third song is a country song.

John must really like country music. Next to the metal and country you can hear jazz, rock and blues. Maybe he still doesn’t know what he likes the most but John really knows how to make a good and interesting album. “Songs For Sanity” is not only an album for guitar freaks, you can also listen it if you’re into rock/ metal.

On the song “Perineum” John recieved help from Steve Vai, still one of the biggest guitarists ever but John proves with his new album that he can fall in the same category, or is he already?
