Lucifer Songs is the third release of this Italian band. After Godlike Snake (2000) and Snailking (2004) the time is right for their third release. According to the band they combine the violence of Neurosis and the psychedelica from Pink Floyd.
I find it very hard to describe their music, indeed there are some Pink Floyd and Neurosis influences, but I also hear a lot of industrial sounds and very much stoner rock as well.
Lucifer Songs is a very gloomy and very dark ep. All sorts of sounds and samples are put in their music making it a bit hard to define.
The album consists out of five first class stoner/industrial rock songs, every song is build up out of gloomy keyboards, strange vocal samples and heavy doomy guitar riffs. | |
I hardly hear any lead vocals, the few times I hear them it reminds me to a band like ministry (filth pig period).
If five songs aren’t enough for you, you should check out the LP version, it has an extra track called ‘Lucifer Song’, a very boring, nine minute, instrumental keyboard track, trust me the CD with only vive songs will do just fine.
Besides that the first vive songs are very high class, and very unpredictable. Due to the samples and the diversity within the songs the album won’t get bored for a single moment.
