After last years successful record “This love is murderous” Bleeding Through returns with an follow up record called “the truth”. I have to admit, they have a talent to name their cd’s as emo as can be. Only the music doesn’t really have comparisons with said genre. More with melodic Metalcore with soms black metal influences.

The first thing I noticed: the keyboards have a more prominent role on this record. Sometimes reminds me of some black metal bands and riffs. The second thing I noticed was the fact that there are more clean vocals and that gives the band almost a nu-metal feeling.

Negative note:
Almost every song has a breakdown (it remains metalcore), and it starts to bore me after a few songs.

The lyrics are pretty the same in every record, about broken loves, betray, and dying. The second thing that bores me, we know it, it’s been done. It’s all been done before.

Positive note:
The aforementioned keyboards do add to the music, like on “For love and Failing” and “Love In Slow Motion” (one of the best tracks on the record). Despite my negative note, the combination of hardcore, screamo, (Swedish)metal, emo and black metal is more consistent on this record than “This love..”.

I think they don’t need all those breakdowns, they are pretty good in writing good songs and catchy parts. Maybe this is a bridge to their next one and I will give them another chance when it’s being released.
