After reviewing several Provogue blues rock albums, I wasn’t that anxious to review yet another one. But when the first riffs of ‘Back To Your Cages’ blew out of my speakers it immediately became obvious that Michael Katon stands out from all other blues rock guitarists. Man, this album is 100% rock and maybe even more important 100% cool! How’s that for blues rock?
The second song ‘On The Prowl For A Hoochie Mama’ is definitely 100% blues, a little bit in the vein of The Rolling Stones music wise, but the excellent distorted vocals take this song far beyond any standards. The overall vocals on the album are one of the greatest efforts on ‘MK’. | |
The low, deep, yet crispy vocals on ‘In The Land Of Rock ‘n’ Roll’, a title that leaves little room for imagination, touch the core of blues rock.
So, with this rather short review (you can’t describe real beauty), I’ve picked out some of my favourite tracks, but honestly, ‘MK’ features only great tracks. I couldn’t find a single weak note on album. Therefore this one absolutely deserves 10 out of 10 points. I can hardly wait to see Katon live during one or two of his Germany or Netherlands gigs in February and March. Katon is Killer!
