While Shining Fury’s debut album didn’t really convince me in the least, I have to admit that “Another Life” is an excellent piece of work. This Italian quintet seems to have taken a huge leap forwards; not only are the compositions much stronger, the sound quality of this album is excellent – something that couldn’t really be said of its predecessor “Last Sunrise”.

Shining Fury plays fast and furious melodic metal but there’s enough room for slower tracks and there’s diversity in abundance.

Especially Francesco Neretti’s vocals are top edge. With his awesome reach and power he definitely adds to the quality of this release.

“Another Life” might be dubbed as yet another Italian power metal release but as long as it’s a good one there’s nothing really wrong with that, and rest assured this is a good one. Shining Fury definitely have what it takes to rise out of the dull grey masses that is the current Italian power metal scene.
