Since 1993 Driller Killer has released 7 cd’s and a couple of split cd’s (for example with Impaled Nazarene). Since their last full length release is from 2002 (Cold, Cheap & Disconnected) it is about time they come with some new material. To be honest, the waiting was absolutely worth while, the 4Qmangrenate grabs you by immediately the throat and will not let you go until the last note of the album ebbs away. For those of you who are not known with Driller Killers previous releases Driller Killer describes themselves as ‘A vicious d-beat creation, combining heavy chunks of unpolished metal and killer crust, hardcore all the way’. It is metal punk and hardcore mixed with brutal death metal, including the blast beats and grunts but also including the simple hardcore & punk melodies.

The 4Qmangrenate consist of 11 well placed kicks in the face.

There are no lyrics in my promo version but I assume this is a concept album in some way, dealing about some all destroying killing machine. More about that in the interview with band (Which will be online soon). All songs are performed very well and for a crust core album the production is very good. It is loud & dirty just the way it should be. Whether you take the hyper fast ‘3one6one4’ or the more melodic ‘Today of the Death’ all songs are of a very high class. One can absolutely hear Driller Killer has been around for a while.

According to Driller Killer; ‘You won’t exactly be whistling once you’ve entered this kick in the face fest, because throughout the 4Qmangrenade album…only the song remains the same, dying to detonate’ I can only agree…
