‘First Strike Still Deadly’ is a "Best Of" according to the members of TESTAMENT, who have rejoined for the first time in a decade to re-record these classic tracks they believe to be their finest. Re-recorded with today’s advanced technology in production as well as the fact that Testament are older, wiser & better players in 2001. Their crucial contributions to the early thrash metal surge of the mid to late 1980s helped to develop a sound that forever changed the face of heavy music and resonates just as loudly in their recordings today.

Joining the band for this rare event are former TESTAMENT members Alex Skolnick (guitar) and John Tempesta (drums) along with original vocalist of THE LEGACY (Testament’s original incarnation) and former Exodus frontman, Steve Souza.

Souza contributes lead vocals to the classics “Alone In The Dark” and “Reign Of Terror”, the latter being the title track from THE LEGACY’s incredibly rare demo recording. Sonically, the legendary songs of early TESTAMENT are brought screaming into the 21st century. “Trial By Fire”, “Disciples Of The Watch”, “The New Order” and “Into The Pit” are just some of the tracks that sound absolutely monstrous in their new surroundings, while “Burnt Offerings” and “Over The Wall” especially benefit from a massively improved drum sound which give the songs a much stronger rhythmic kick. And in conclusion it is fair to say that this is a great legacy of legendary material.
