We all know Liv Kristine for all of her work with Theatre of Tragedy and of course Leaves’ Eyes. Listening to Liv’s new album “Enter My Religion”, my guess is, only few of you know about her solo career. To be honest, you don’t need to.

First of all because I don’t think that many of you are interested in pop music, secondly because the pop music on the new album isn’t all that good. Opener “Over The Moon” is an awkward mixture of a Christmas carol and annoying oriental strings that keep turning up on the entire album. I’m not impressed with the compositions eighter. I had to triple check whether Springsteen’s “Streets Of Philadelphia” was the only cover on the album.

Every single song sounds so familiar, and therefore rather boring. There’s not a single note on “Enter My Religion” that sounds fresh or original.

Another thing I don’t like is the fact that there is no room for the musicians to build up a song. Some tracks start out promising with a powerful intro, but when the vocals kick in, all songs slow down without ever showing signs of revival. From the first till the final second of every track, the songs are dominated by the vocals. And let’s be honest, Kristine’s vocals are good, but not that good! Entering Kristine’s Religion in one word is boring, very boring.
