The Danish metalheads from Raunchy have been around for quite a long time already. They started Raunchy in 1994 and for the first couple of years they played almost every venue in Denmark. After a couple of demos and a full length (“Velvet Noise”) the band got signed on Nuclear Blast and was hailed as the next best band in futuristic hybrid metal. Of course there are comparisons with Fear Factory and Strapping Young Lad, but if you listen well you can hear some influences of their fellow Scandinavians from Soilwork and the more recent In Flames.

Luckily Raunchy kept their own identity on “Death Pop Romance” by adding certain elements aforementioned bands don’t have, which makes this album quite original.

“Death Pop Romance” was recorded by Jacob Hansen (Hatesphere, Illdisposed, Mnemic) en mixed by Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Aborted, Born From Pain). Both did a very good job in giving this album a clean sound but still keeping it brutal as hell.

‘Death Pop Romance’ is a very good substitute album for those of you who are disappointed in the latest Fear Factory album. Go out and buy it!
