Emo is hot! So every guy that looks like a girl, wears a lot of make-up, has a sixties-hairdo and can both do some clean vocals and growls has potential for the record companies. I never heard of Hawthorne Heights before, but they seem to be pretty popular in the States. For me it’s nothing more than the next emo-band that is surfing along on the popularity of that particular genre. You know, some clean vocals here, some growls there combined witth catchy guitar tunes. Of course there’s also five guys with dumb hairdos, the only thing missing is the eye liner. | |
As I said, the music is pretty catchy but you get bored after a while. It all sounds pretty much the same. Unfortunately there are no lyrics in the booklet, so I have no idea what their lyrics are about. They probably deal with the fact that growing up in some suburb in Ohio (that’s were they’re from) is really hard and stuff like that.
If you want to keep up with the latest trends and you’re really into emo and screamo, Hawthorne Heights really is your thing. If not, ignore this album.
