Brazilian death-threat Krisiun return with already their seventh cd. As always Krisiun plays high speed merciless death metal. AssassiNation is packed full with outstanding technical riffs and solos. I hardly ever hear a band that mixes their solo’s so perfectly in their music as Krisiun does. Unlike on all other Krisiun releases they sometimes slow down a little bit, this only makes the blast beats and their well-known machinegun riffs and blast beats sound more devastating. With slowing down I don’t mean that Krisiun plays Midtempo death metal nowadays, no in case of Krisiun slowing down means shifting down from seventh to sixth gear. The only strange song on this album is the final song, a well performed rendition of Motorhead’s sweet revenge showing the bands affection with the old school heavy metal. | |
The production is absolutely perfect, the sound of the album is very massive on one side but very transparent on the other side. One can hear every instrument perfectly, without losing all details.
For those of you who are not known with Krisiun, they are one of the few bands who play a kind of unique form of death metal (for as much as that’s possible within the walls of extreme death metal). Krisiun is unique in the way they combine they monstrous blast beats with high-class technical guitar riffs. They manage to do this without being an exact copy of bands as Morbid Angel or Vader.
AssassiNation is, without any doubt, one of the best death metal releases from the past few years. Krisiun proves that they belong to the absolute top of the death metal scene world wide.
