After the release of their first demo “Burn!” ‘The Lucifer Principle’ decided to concentrate immediately on writing and recording new material for their second demo. And here it is, only eight months after their impressive debut; Flamethrower.
Again TLP plays thrash orientated midtempo death metal. All six songs a of very high level, constantly switching from heavy and blunt death metal (like ‘Six Feet Under) to typical thrashing riffs full of double bass blasts and catchy riffs (reminding me a little bit to Kreator). The constant factor making this a pure death metal release (instead of a death/thrash album) are the strong lead vocals from Earik, his grunts are very powerful this in combination with strong guitar work and thundering drums makes ‘Flamethrower’ a very diverse and solid album.

Just like ‘Burn’ this ep is again produced by Paul Beltman, I’ve never heard of the guy but he has surely done a very good job. ‘Flamethrower` sounds just like a death metal album should sound. Also just like its predecessor “Flamethrower” brings us nothing we’ve never heard before, but as long as they will keep on releasing death metal albums of this level I don’t think anyone will complain. And a serious record deal will just be a matter of time.

The only thing I don’t understand is the fact that when you can write and record six strong songs in eight months then why not write four or five songs more and release a full length cd in a few moths later.
