What do you get when you put band members from the Haunted, Arch Enemy and Opeth together? You get Witchery! Witchery started in 1997 when four members splintered off Satanic Slaughter. Since then they released “Restless Youth” (1998), “Witchburner EP” (1999), “Dead, Hot And Ready” (1999) and “Symphony For The Devil” (2001). So it took the band 5 years to record a new album, in the interview with Sharlee D’Angelo on this site you can read why it took that long. But when you know this band contains members from the aforementioned bands you can imagine why it took this long.

So “Don’t Fear The Reaper” is the fifth studio album from the Witchery and since I dropped this album in my compact disc player it didn’t came out of it. “Don’t Fear The Reaper” is a great album, recorded in Berno Studio in Sweden but mixed at The Antfarm studio by Tue Madsen.

If you heard an album mixed by this guy before you should know he always delivers quality albums.

“Don’t Fear The Reaper” is an album with eighties death and trash metal mixed at its best. The album begins with some drums and brings you to a higher level while listening. This time I really want to say that the drums are sounding really good. It’s not often that you hear the drums this cool.

Witchery also recorded an old Satanic Slaughter song (“Immortal Death”). As you can read in the interview with Sharlee D’Angelo you can expect more Satanic Slaughter songs in the future. I’m looking forward to it.
