Submission is a band that was formed in 2003. Two guys were playing for fun and thought: “Maybe we have to take this band to a higher level”. So they called some friends and Submission was a fact. After this it went positive for the band. In 2004 they won a Danish price for best demo, in 2005 they played at the Roskilde festival and they had the opportunity to be on the Roskilde DVD and in 2006 they have their debut album on Listenable records. That’s quite a history on short terms.
Submission plays thrash/death metal with some melodic parts and catchy riffs. The band starts with a very heavy song. In “Darkened Eyes” there’s place for more. In this song there are next to the grunting parts also some clean parts, it sounds a bit like Killswitch. Personally I’m a big Killswitch fan and normally I hate everything that sounds as a bad rip-off but with Submission this isn’t really the case. | |
The band plays in the same song further with thrash metal stuff. The singing sounds perfect in the song.
The rest of the album is full of moshparts and also some great guitar solo’s. For fans from Mnemic, Soilwork and most of the modern metalcore bands this is really one album to hear.
As with most of the good albums that come out nowadays Submission also went to Tue Madsen’s Antfarm studio and to Jacob Hansen’s studio. What can I say: when you work with those two guys your album will have an excellent sound.
Submission is certainly a band with potential. Hopefully the band will be touring in the near future, can’t wait to see them.
