Neaera’s previous album ‘The Rising Tide Of Oblivion’ was reviewed by my colleague Julie and she was blown away by that album. I never heard it, so I’m not prejudiced in any way. But with the first notes of opener ‘Mechanisms Of Standstill’ I was sold. Goddamn, I still don’t how to describe that feeling, but it’s some kind of in-your-face feeling. BLAAM and you’re sold. It’s awesome.

Since metalcore is used so often these days, I won’t refer to it. Then again, Neaera plays more than metalcore. It’s just awesome. I just don’t seem to find the right words to explain the feeling I have with this album.

But let me assure you that the feeling is positive.

Once in a while you receive a new album and there’s just nothing to complain about. ‘Let The Tempest Begin’ is such an album. I simply can’t find a weak spot. The vocals are both high and low growls, the guitar riffs are awesome and the drums make you want to smash anything that is nearby.
Keep an eye out for these guys. On the 18th of March they start a tour with Caliban, so check their website for tourdates!
