Majestically the album “Genocide” entrances under the veil of battle and defeat. After this, brutal warfare breaks loose. The music is full of variations in tempo and style; slower parts with spoken vocals, the sound of guns and bombers exchange with thundering death metal and fast and aggressive black-death metal. The use of samples adds to the atmosphere of the album.
Musically Genocide can be compared to bands like Zyklon, (newer) Behemoth and Myrskog. All bands (or -members) who changed their styles from black to (blackened) death metal over the years. In addition the album sounds a bit like Necrophagia and causes some sort of Panzer Division Marduk feeling (“Death from Above”).

The album will be released by Morningstar Records, a new Norwegian label by members from Keep of Kalessin, Necropgagia and Manes amongst others.

Bloodthorn is already active since 1992 and has released a first demo in 1996, four full length albums (including this one) in respectively 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2006 and an interesting split with And Oceans (1997).

During these years they changed their style severely, from relatively melodic, doomy black metal to more aggressive black metal to the current devastating black-death metal. An interesting feature on this new album is the presence of new guitarist Ihizahg from Wurdulak, who heavily co-operated in the writing process.

"Genocide" is definitely a great release for those whose time has come!
