Once in a while you’re confronted with bands whose main inspiration is Black Sabbath. The German band Gorilla Monsoon is one of those bands. On their debut-album “Damage King” they really show how to play the typical Black Sabbath’s riffs in a very, very heavy way;

For more than 50 minutes you will be overloaded with heavy riffs, heavy riffs and more heavy riffs. The first song “Declaration of Damnation” is almost instrumental and it is the best song on this album, the next songs are reordered in a bad way, somewhere in back are some clear voices, grunts and screaming voices.

During the second part of the album the quality of the recording is a little bit better, perhaps the diehards among the death metal fans might like it but I don’t.
