If I’m right this is the third album from If Hope Dies. I don’t know their previous releases so I just have to focus on this record. And that is no punishment.
‘Life in Ruin’ is a solid metalcore record where there’s more metal than core, and finally this is a band that is good in creating some diversity in their songs. The breakdowns aren’t centralized and it’s more about the songs than about the mosh. | |
The combination of screaming and singing is not new, on this record it reminds me of Shadows Fall (‘The Ultimate Nullifier’). The music can best be described as a combination of Heaven Shall Burn, Testament, aforementioned Shadows Fall and Caliban.
METALcore. And there is nothing wrong with a good portion of metal!
