If I’m right this is the third album from If Hope Dies. I don’t know their previous releases so I just have to focus on this record. And that is no punishment.

‘Life in Ruin’ is a solid metalcore record where there’s more metal than core, and finally this is a band that is good in creating some diversity in their songs. The breakdowns aren’t centralized and it’s more about the songs than about the mosh.

The combination of screaming and singing is not new, on this record it reminds me of Shadows Fall (‘The Ultimate Nullifier’). The music can best be described as a combination of Heaven Shall Burn, Testament, aforementioned Shadows Fall and Caliban.
METALcore. And there is nothing wrong with a good portion of metal!
