Holy Jesus! What is this? Four Monks (monk Liebe, monk Nachtfraß, monk Schaft and monk Moeh) are rocking. I didn’t know about this band and I was fully surprised by this album. It opens with an intro of chiming church bells, followed by the song “Ave Maria”; a track with Gregorian influences (yeah really), medieval instruments and some guitar playing. On several songs the band is supported by a sister.

The music is described best as a mixture between In Extremo and Rammstein, even the songs are in the German language. One thing is for sure, these monks have a great sense of (religious) humour, just read the interview with these guys. If you have any feeling for religious humour too, you might listen to Psalm II and judge it yourself, but be warned.
