“The Damage” is “Tapping The Vain” first full length recording. This music can best be compared with later industrial “Theatre Of Tragedy”, only with female vocals sounding like the “B 52`s”. Gothic rock, with a lot of industrial influence like samplers and a drum computer. Well produced and a solid sound but nothing new, only the vocals separate “Tapping The Vain” from the big heap of gothic /pop/rock bands that are currently flooding the scene. In stead of beautiful angelic female vocals, Heather Thompson screams away in a “B52" kind of way, giving “Tapping The Vein” their own recognizable sound. Perfect background music for surfing on the internet (of course to Rock-E-Zine) or for students who like to study with music playing in the background.

Tracks as “Beautiful” and “Everything” stick out, but it all still sounds a lot alike. They have opened or side-showed for acts as “Depeche Mode”, “Alanis Morrisette” and “The Sisters Of Mercy”, which gives a very good indication on the type of people that will probably like “Tapping The Vein”. They have also side-showed for “Type O Negative” but this is a music style that is considerably harder than “Tapping The Vein”. “TTV” is not a star but definitely a good second violin suited for the background.
