The main goal of this self titled debut EP by The Colorado Silver is to prove that this band from Doetinchem, the Netherlands, will have a bright future playing their punk / emocore. In my opinion the band has succeeded in this. As a matter of fact, this EP sounds quite promising, showing more than one side of the band.

The best thing about the band is the ability to change styles. Both the opening and closing tracks start out rather corny (in a good way that is) with lead back vocals with rough outbursts and some quite original tricks like the excellent acoustic guitar solo in ‘First Wish’, without doubt the best track these boys have recorded so far.

Another plus that deserves to be mentioned are the multiple vocals, on the verge of being false, are just the edge that keeps the EP interesting. I had some trouble with the third track ‘If I Can’t Forget What I Saw’ where slight psychedelic guitars are combined with Peppers influences in the rhythm section and over the top screaming vocals.

I have no doubt that there is a future for The Colorado Silver, if they keep on evolving in the vein of the best songs on the debut EP, this future might even be as bright as the band has hoped for.
