Since I’m not a big thrash metal fan I’ll try something different reviewing Tankards new album with the neat title ‘The Beauty And The Beer’. I’ve done some research on several forums and came to the following conclusions that might help you making up your mind whether or not to buy the new album of these German thrashers.

Tankard had lots of fans looking forward to ‘The Beauty And The Beer’. After some rather positive first sounds, the negative feedback on the forums started to grow. Most of the die hard fans don’t think that the new cd is of the same level as the previous albums ‘B-Day’ and ‘Beast Of Bourbon’. A much heard criticism is that the band has lost most of their punky feel and that the band is offering speed only for the sake of speed.

After listening to the songs a couple of times I understood what these guys were complaining about. Some of the compositions are too contrived as are the lyrics that are slightly forced.

Despite the disappointment - remember we’re talking die hard fans here (we all know how demanding they can be) - most are realistic enough to admit that ‘The Beauty And The Beer’ is not a bad album by any means. People that are new to Tankard probably have fewer difficulties enjoying the bands latest effort.
