When the progressive metal band Riverside released the awesome "Out of Myself" in 2003, they became a household name in the prog scene. It’s hard to imagine "Second Life Syndrome" is even better, but it is.

The thing that strikes me the most is the voice of Mariusz Duda. What a breath-taking emotion you can hear in his voice. I think the best track on this album is "Conceiving you". The emotion, the beautiful lyrics and the sound of the piano on the background, makes this track to a tremendous whole. A typical song that gets you goose flesh.

Actually there’s near nothing I don’t like from this album. The few things I should address are the track "Volte Face", which is too turbulent and long-winded, and the artwork. It ís beautiful, but with this kind of tracks I think something dreamier would fit better.

An impressive album, can’t describe it as anything else. An absolute must for people who like to hear music like Opeth, Anathema and Pain of Salvation. Just take the best of these bands and you will get something like Riverside.
