After some very impressive Polish releases over the last couple of months, I was quite anxious to give “Spam”, the seventh album by Polish progressive rock band Lizard, time in my cd player.

The ingredients of this album are most promising.
The jazzy feel of the rhythm section, the servant guitars (that are a little bit subdued in the mix) and the crisp vocals all should add up to being worth listening to. Yet somehow the different pieces on “Spam” just don’t add up.

The attempts to make the Polish vocals sound melodic fail miserably and the combination between the distorted guitars and the jazzy rhythms make this one rather difficult to enjoy.

There are some pretty solid sections here and there. I particularly like the more laid back inbetween instrumental sections, but not enough to convince me in advising you to buy this one.
