After the fantastically received album “Fallen Angels”, which in Poland was promoted during the Dark Stars Festival Tour 2004, Via Mistica prepared a new album. The info sheet writes about it; "Music maintained in the early releases of Theatre of Tragedy". As I like ToT a lot, I was very anxious to hear this album.

From the first chords off, the music brings you in a romantic mood, drowning in an atmosphere of harmony and melancholy. For me the use of cello and the contrasting vocals (delicate female voice and brutal growling) makes the sound of Via Mistica unique and recognizable. Of course, the concept (female vocalist, male growler, guitarists, drummer and keyboardist) is not new, and perhaps a bit standard for a doom/gothic metal band, but Via Mistica is doing good work with it.

I see no point in writing about songs in particular, because you have to hear it yourself. This music can’t be described in a few sentences.

My personal favorite is “Parallel Mind”, this because it is different from the others, Marecki (male growler) even lets us hear some pieces of clean voice.

After hearing this 12-track album, I wasn’t disappointed the least. You won’t find a lot of doom on “Under My Eyelids”, the only thing that really reminds of the ‘doom-side’ is the growling, but all the characteristics we love from Gothic metal can be found on it.

At last I want to make my compliments to David Lynch, who wrote the lyrics. They are all great! They are standard doom/gothic themes - love, emotions, misery - but these lyrics just got it.
From “Parallel Mind”
And what if I lie?
What if I’m cheating?
I have no conviction
That me is me

Not only recommended for Theatre of Tragedy fans! People, buy this album, it`s worth it!
