Metalheads who don’t know Shadows Fall must have lived under a rock for the last few years. Shadows Fall has been one of the leading bands of ‘The new wave of American heavy metal’. Together with bands like Killswitch Engage, Chimaira and Lamb of God this term was invented by the media to put these big names into a group. Shadows Fall got to be big after releasing the great ‘Art of balance’ (2002). After that they got huge when ‘The war within’ (2004) was released. So there’s no question mark when the news of their signing with Roadrunner records came around.

I’ve gotten to know Shadows Fall after the release of ‘The Art Of Balance’. In my opinion this album was a brilliant combination of old-school metal and the thing that a lot of bands do these days. Especially the choruses where really good, catchy but raw and brutal at the same time. I was a little disappointed when ‘The war within’ hit the streets.

Musically the band delivered a great album, but choruses weren’t as raw as before and gotten a little bit whiny to me. The same thing with ‘Fall out from the war’. The guitar-riffing is better than it ever was. But again the singing parts are too poppy for my ears.

Ok here are my final words: ‘Fall out from the war’ is a great album for the die hard Shadows Fall fans. The new songs are in the line of there previous album. The old re-recorded songs fit to the new ones thanks to the great production of this record. To me the cover songs are fillers, well done but not a reason to buy this record.
Are you a fan? GET IT.
Do you like Shadows fall or are you curious after this review? Wait till there next full-length comes out or check out there previous albums.
