A few weeks ago I read an article about Heerlen (in the south of the Netherlands). The article said that this city can become the Seattle (US) of the Netherlands. That’s because of the high unemployment rates and the heavy music scene in that area. For example Born From Pain, 37 Stabwoundz, Superhero are also from this city.
Circle Of Silence is also band from Heerlen (with members from other regions). The band never started, it just was there one day. Some friends who had the same passion for melancholic, melodic and apocalyptic music started making music and writing songs.

‘The Love Of My Life’ is the first album they made and it did impress me.
The album starts with an intro which brings you to the first song; ‘Payback’ which shows us immediately what an energy these guys have. The musicians play very well and the double bass sounds marvelous. Vocalist Wilbert Pannekoek sounds really brutal and again also energetic. When he’s screaming it really sounds if he misses the love of his life.

The lyrics are about somebody’s love of his live. The front cover depicts a very nice girl, unfortunately the girl seems to be dead.
The songs on this album are really well written and are not just some easy metalcore songs you hear too much nowadays.

The cd also contains some multimedia stuff. Here you can find some live videos from the songs ‘Your Beauty’, ‘Promised Land’ and ‘The Love Of My Life’. After seeing these video’s I really want to see this band live on stage, the band plays a very energetic show. Also in this section: ‘A Day In The Life Of…’. This video (unfortunately it’s in Dutch) is about the band getting ready for a gig. Very funny with a lot of humor.

Circle Of Silence sounds as a refreshing band. These guys did a good job with this album and is definitely a band for the future.
