Stone Sour`s self-titled debut was a huge success. Back then their mix of grunge, hard rock, ballads and groovy metal was being well accepted. A lot of fans have been looking out for their second album. "Come What(ever) May" is as varied and diverse as their first album.
Corey Taylor, whom you all might know as the Slipknot vocalist, sings and growls his way through the album. James Root and Josh Rand came up with some great riffs and licks and Shawn Economaki`s bass lines are pumping. But Stone Sour`s new drummer, Ray Mayorga (ex-Soulfy) has made an astounding impression on me. | |
I already knew some of his work from the Roadrunner All-Star album, but he amazes me again with his groovy yet hard style.
The more laid-back songs sometimes remind me of Alice In Chains. Not vocal wise, but more in the way the songs are written and some of the solos are played.
After listening to the album a couple of times, I can only conclude one thing: I AM ADDICTED TO "Come What(ever) May". Do you want to share this addiction with me?
