What bothers me the most about the current scene is the enormous amount of mediocre releases pumped out to the masses. We`ve more or less been past blackmetal`s peak and those bands and releases are steadily decreasing. Now it seems that the good ol` death scene is up for the game of "let`s kill it by overloading it"; the quality of releases is declining with bitter lows such as Six Feet Under, the latest Deicide, and about a million bands you probably never even heard of.

Decapitated falls in the shadowzone. Decapitated is a band with quality, I full well realize that. However, their capabilities are unfocused and unaimed at a certain goal, and this unfocusedness makes it `just another release`.

It is obvious they are influenced by Morbid Angel ("Eternity Too Short") in many ways, but they don`t manage in adding something that is specific for Decapitated. A good Morbid Angel clone is still a clone, with the original being the better in many cases.

Let Decapitated set higher standards for themselves, let them try to be creative and call me again when there are concrete results. Until then, Nihility is a CD that will find its way to the fanatics and people who can`t wait for the new Morbid Angel, but don`t come looking here for something new.
