Sometimes you get an album that is so overwhelming it just takes your breath away. This time I was caught by the Scandinavian band Beyond Twilight with the CD “For Love And The Art Of Making”. I put this album in my CD-player and it didn`t leave there for a long time. This is PROGRESSIVE METAL! With CAPITALS! This is great, this is superb!

Most of the lyrics and music is made by mastermind Finn Zierler. I take off my hat for these progressive metal kings. This is the metal album of 2006. The production is outstanding, listen to the power of the metal, the acoustics, symphonics, the pipe organ and all progressive parts, absolutely superb. Fans of progressive metal bands like Dream Theatre just have to buy this album, this album has to be part of your collection. The album consist out of 43 sections and 3 hidden ones. According to the band it is possible to shuffle the album, the result is a totally new song.

I have tried this and my conclusion is that this is not totally true. An additional problem is most cd-players are searching for the next song for about a second, the sections don’t connect to each other so therefore the result of the shuffle-play for my was not great. On the other hand, just playing the album is amazing already. For Love And The Art Of Making” is 3 dimensional symphony/metal opera and a mathematical puzzle. If you want to know what this is, just listen to this album. The more you listen the cd, the more you will discover different elements. It is not exactly something for easy-listeners - it is deep - very deep. You will have to give it quite a few spins in the cd player to get the understanding of the depths of this unique album.
