The name of this album, "Kadavreski", comes from "Cadavre Exquis" (meaning "exquisite cadaver" or "rotating corpse"), which is a method by which a collection of words or images are collectively assembled. It is a technique invented by the surrealists in 1925, and it’s based on an old parlour game called "Consequences" in which players wrote in turn on a sheet of paper, folded it to conceal part of the writing an then passed it to the next player for a further contribution. Each person is only allowed to see the end of what the previous person wrote (source of information: Wikipedia).
It seems that Anthemon, the dark/doom metal band that we’re talking about, made this album exactly according to the rules of “Cadavre Exquis”. All the tracks consists of a number of pieces that are combined to each other. | |
If you listen to the first track you’ll know what I mean.
Where this band first made some kind of gothic metal with a female singer, they did a turnover with their previous release called "Dystopia". Nowadays they’re playing dark/doom metal with a male singer. A progression if you ask me, because there are lots and lots of gothic/doom bands with a female singer, now Anthemon is just a little bit different.
The only minus point I must address is the annoying clean voice of the male singer. It isn`t really pleasant to listen to and frequently the instruments are a bit dominating. All in all it can be called an acceptable album. My advice: Don`t listen this album time after time, it will bore you after a while.
