Named after a sentence in a poem by Heinrich Heime. `Deaf To Our Prayers` the new studio album from Heaven Shall Burn.
Heaven Shall Burn is a metalcore band who released already 3 full lengths, 3 split cd’s and a mini cd. They became well known with the 2003 release `Whatever It May Take`. A record full of Death, Thrash and Hardcore with a superb production, and gained more fans with the follow up `Antigone`, and even scored a `hit` with `The Weapon They Fear`.
Now it`s time for this record, an important record, because there were some doubts. Will they use more nu-metal influences, more breakdowns or even more math? After a few songs I can simply answer all these questions with a "no". This record is even the most `metal` record Heaven Shall Burn made. There aren`t really many hardcore parts left, the concentration is more based on the metal side. | |
Like they take a walk through lots of metalbands. From Dark Tranquillity and The Crown to At The Gates and Slayer. I can sum up a lot more influences, but I think Heaven Shall Burn created more something of an own sound. The riffs, the vocals, the hatred-sphere, everything is on this record again and sometimes even more brutal. Like opener `Counterweight` or `The Final March`.
`Deaf To Our Prayers` consolidates Heaven Shall Burns position in the metalscene. Like mentioned before, the most important about this record is that they remained their brutality with traditional elements. It`s a record wich does not disappoint, wich will see my and probably your cd player again, every week. (Friso) |
