The intro: Roman soldiers, wagons and horses, introducing the name of the band: “To Elysium”, the roman hereafter. Then heavy (80s metal based) guitar riffs, stumpin’ bass and drums, and a melodic synthesiser start the opener “He rears his head with laughter”. A roaring male grunt and a beautiful female opera voice divide and harmonise the vocal parts in the right proportions. For people who like “After Forever”, go listen to this new Dutch possible export product. High quality traditional metal, combined with gothic influences, and even some side steps into speed (listen to the double bass in: ”Meridians Fall”). Very strong compositions with a beautiful balance between clear melody and dark mysterious.

Founded by metal veteran Mannes (guitars, ex “Black Out” 1984) and Eline (keyboards) two years ago, completed with Sjoerd (drums, ex “Altar”), Andries (bass), and Rein and Esther (vocals). Live the band will play with an additional guitarist (Ray) and the keyboard parts will be played by Mathijs (ex “Within Temptation”).
