At foreign Shores is my first acquaintance with Stormwarrior. For those of you who don’t know this band either, Stormwarrior is a band from the north of Germany and was founded in 1998 by Lars Ramcke (Vocals/ Guitar) and Andrè Schumann (Drums). They were greatly inspired by the 80’s metal scene, especially from the Hamburg Metal godfathers Helloween and Running Wild. The debut album was recorded and produced by Kai Hansen (Helloween and later Gamma Ray) and Dirk Schlächter. In 2005 Stormwarrior supported Gamma Ray during their Japan-tour.
This tour has resulted in a live CD, At foreign Shores which is subtitled -Live in Japan-. | |
The songs on this album come from all three studiiol albums of the band. Don’t expect something new the songs are based on typical up-tempo heavy metal of the eighties. The performance and sound however are rather good especially the vocals. It is obviously clear that the band is having a great metal party on stage.
If you like metal like the old fast Helloween stuff (like Walls of Jericho) the album At foreign Shores -Live in Japan- might be interesting for you. (Ralph) |
