Since their demo “The Oath”, Ahab has become more dark and atmospheric. This debut album, “The Call of the Wretched Sea”, is a funeral doom album based on Moby Dick. When author Herman Melville penned that book he had no way of knowing it would become a well of inspiration for artists.
Though this band exists of members of Midnattsol (Daniel Droste & Chris R. | |
Hector) and Endzeit (Stephan Adolph), you won’t find any Folk Metal elements on this album. This album is Funeral Doom on its finest; the dark wall of deep tuned guitars, and vocals from the deepest abyss, overwhelms you.
When you like funeral doom, you’ll like Ahab. It brings the expected doom-sound, with some personal additions.
