Dimension Zero formed in 1996 when Jesper Stromblad and Glenn Ljungstrom from In Flames decided it was time for a side project. After several line up changes, releasing a mini cd and contributing songs to Sepultura and Mercyfull Fate tributes they split up. In 2000 they formed again. It took them two years but they finaly released their debut album. `9 songs of the rawest metal` as their biography says. It certanly is raw. Of course, it sounds a lot like In Flames (and At The Gates and Arch Enemy I must say), but it is raw and it is metal. Not very original but the fans will not care. Rough screaming vocals, high speed riffing, melodic guitar parts and an impressive drummer: if you`re into fast scandinavian metal this is your thing. | |
With fast and agressive music like this the production is very important. Producer/engineer Anders Friden (who also produced In Flames) did a good job on this one. To drop some other bandnames: Dimension Zero also features ex-Marduk and ex-Crystal Age/Diabolique members. Silent Night Fever lasts about half an hour and it shouldn`t last longer. The songs are great but they do sound alike. It shouldn`t be shorter either. It`s adrenalin all the way through.
