Uplifted is a band that tries to combine the aggression of hardcore-punk, the groove and melody of metal and the profundity and emotion of rock. The first element is mainly covered by the vocals which are rather weak, and therefor could be discribed as an agressive hardcore-punk influence. Music wise the band starts off on the right foot. The opening track has some nice sections. A proper intro, nice tempo changes and some catchy refrains. Sadly the vocals spoil most of the feel of the track. Too bad, because the band shows potential here. | |
The second track doesn’t have the same finesse as the opener. This is a twelve in a dozen track. With “haven”, the third out of four tracks the band recapture themselves slightly, but leans too much of the rather good refrains and some fine breaks. The final track is one I could have done without. The high tempo of the track again makes clear that the vocals lack the quality required for this kind of music. If the band continues to develop in the vain of the opening track they might make some marks in their homecountry. (Geert) |
