After the four track “Thouch The Sky” the Dutch Miss Behaviour took a shot and released ... a five track EP called “Funcky Heart”. The first EP showed different sides of the band and proved that the band had some potential, the second is more consistent ... slightly boring to be honest. The guitars, the drums and the vocals (I bet there are people dat absoluty dislike the vocals because of the Ilse De Lange tremble in it) sound too much alike. The title track is a fine example of distroying a rather basis funk track with annoying vocals. There is too much expression in the vocals. Fabiola is trying too hard to dominate the atmosphere and just doesn’t seem to be able to keep quiet for more than one or two seconds. | |
The following track opens with a guitar solo that is corny from beginning till the end. The vocals are more laid back here and suit the music better though. The instruments are more in balance...this is actually a pretty good track. Not too surprisingly because I have the feeling that almost every note has been taken from a funk/soul classic. I even had to check wheter that this one is no cover (I’m still not convinced). If all the five tracks were of the same level as this one, the EP would have easily scored at least 8 out of 10 points!
