The Semitones proved that the scene in Belgium for heavy modern music was awakened. GAZZOLEEN proves that there’s more happening out there. It sometimes is a pity that the band hasn’t got a complete own sound (yet). If you listen to ‘Ciad’ for instance you hear Limp Bizkit passing and the obvious Korn-tunes are around on this record as well (listen to ‘Like 2 Die’ for instance).‘Jellie-Fish’ is - however - a great song that got the capacity to stay in your mind. You recognize that song directly after hearing it once. This song proves that the band got a brighter future than typical copycat. The fact that the band is not only busy with anger and pain, but got the courage to influence their music with other emotions is a plus. | |
The voice of M@lb is understandable, variable and recognisable. Musically there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this band and GAZZOLEEN create songs with a beginning and an end. ‘Funny’ is that the text in the booklet is only to read with a mirror, but the biggest disappointment on this record is that the most experimental and different song (‘Going Crazy Sometimes’) only takes 0.56 minutes. If the search for critical opinions stops with the above you can only conclude that ‘Tinybears’ is a great debut, but just find that out yourself…
