Dance and metal. Many tried, many failed. Some succeeded. Like Nine Inch Nails, like pitchshifter, Cubanate and Godflesh, to name a few. It’s a combination wich mostly is not appreciated by metal fans, and dancers don’t like metal too often (or maybe atari teenage riot and Mad Capsule Markets). However, this combination resulted in some interesting records and amazing live shows (pitchshifter, nine inch nails etc.).
Sadako tries to combine those two styles with their ‘bedtime stories’ record. The first song directly drawed my interest. It reminds me of the band opiate. After this intro, 16 more tracks come. | |
That means over an hour of this kind of music. And an hour full of mediocre music.
There are lot of ideas, and probably with best intentions, but when your production doesnt’fit with the music and the songs are too bald you just don’t get a decent record. Sometimes they remind me of the band mushroomhead, but with a less better production, and less interesting sounds. I think Sadako has potential, but they have to choose wisely, what to use on a moment, riffs or a dance beat. Samples, soundscapes or a brutal wall of metal. If they do that, it will work out.
