« Insanity » is the debut-album of Ground Control, a formation born in 1996. Founders of the Italian band are Alessio Garavello (lead guitars, lead vocals and writer of the songs) and Fabio Cavallaro (lead guitars). Initially the band was called Deluge and only performed covers of the most famous trash bands of the Bay Area. They changed their name in 2002, which was the start of own ideas soon to be put together on a first record. After releasing a demo entitled “Demo simply 2k5” in November 2004 at Remaster Studio in Italy, Ground Control signed to an indie label called Punishment 18 Records and so gave life to “Insanity”. A record inspired by the eighties and bands as Metallica and Megadeth.

The power of the riffs on this album can be called typically trash but mixed with a melody. The solo parts of the guitar and the vocals of Garavello render to this record. Although it might not be appreciated by the “traditional” trash metal-lovers, music-fans can’t deny the energy this band has put into their first album. Going from various acoustic over harder sounds and never losing the sense for rhythm and melody, we can say Ground Control are on the right path to clame their place in this music scene. Unfortunately, Garavello tries to sing extremely high several times on this album. It would have been better if he had left that out. However, this is the only negative thing I can think of.
