Noordschok is a festival that takes place in Groningen every year (that’s a city in the north of the Netherlands). This festival always has a very nice line-up. The last four years the festival had acts like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Crowbar, Textures, Vader, God Dethroned and many more.
The festival also promotes a lot of local bands. Bands get the change to play on a big stage and they each contribute with one song on the Noordschok band sampler.

So don’t expect the big names on this sampler. The sampler contains one song from each local band that played at the festival in 2006. And there were a lot of talented bands from this area on the festival. For example: The Architect.
The Architect appears on this sampler with the song “The Ideal Austere”. The song has got a lot of trash and hardcore influences. The live performance from this band must be great because ex-Shai Hulud singer Geert van der Velde is their frontman.

Another talented band on the sampler is Massive Assault. The band plays old school death metal with influences from Bolt Thrower and Entombed. You are able to listen to this song at their myspace page (www.myspace.com/massiveassault).
The sampler has got songs from Expulsion, Taste of Insanity, Escadron, [mygirlfriendismyweapon], Extreem Eczeem, Alexorien, Winter of Sin, Cephalic, The 8th Sin, Methusalem and Kouwe Makkers. Kouwe Makkers is a rockband, that sing their songs in Dutch about drugs.
